Shrimp fry

You may have seen that I’ve never posted any seafood recipes in my blog. Although I am not a meat eater, I could bring myself to cook meat dishes for my husband. But, somehow I cannot bring myself to cooking seafood. I am slowly clearing out my inhibitions and trying it out..for the sake of my poor husband. This is my first attempt and he kinda liked it.

Ingredients:
1 lb frozen cooked shrimp, thawed and set in a colander to drain
1 onion, chopped fine
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tomato chopped fine
1 sprig curry leaves
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp fennel, crushed coarsely
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste

Method:
Heat oil in a pan over medium high heat. Add the crushed fennel and let it perfume the oil. Add the chopped onions and curry leaves. Fry until golden brown. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell disappears. Add tomatoes, salt and turmeric powder. Saute until all the water from the tomatoes disappear and the mixture comes together as one mass. Add the chilli powder and saute until oil separates. Add the thawed, drained shrimp and saute until any water evaporates and the masala gets absorbed onto the shrimp. Sprinkle with the chopped cilantro and serve.

Verdict: Spicy and tasty. ( My husband is very short spoken…as you can see. 🙂 )
